DESCRIPTION OF ITINERARY:
DAY 01: LA PAZ – SUN ISLAND (ISLA DEL SOL) – LA PAZ: Early morning between 7:15 – 7:30Hrs a guide and driver will pick you up from the hotel located in La Paz-Bolivia, who will assist you with boarding and luggage, and then you will be driven to Copacabana. The village of Copacabana is located on shores of Lake Titicaca, to 152 km away from La Paz-Bolivia, 3:00 hour’s drive, at an altitude of 3,840 masl, with a population of 3000 inhabitants. There is a church in Copacabana which was originally of a Moorish style, then Renaissance style which was built between 1601 and 1619 and rebuilt in 1610 and 1651. Depart by private motor boat from Copacabana to Sun Island or also called Titicaca Island is located in Lake Titicaca Bolivian side, which has a length of 9.6 km by 4.6 km wide and covers an area of 14.3 km². Its first name was Titicaca Island which means Andean cat stone or puma stone. It has a rugged terrain with many farming terraces, where the island was the Inca sanctuary with a temple of virgins dedicated to God Inti (the Sun), inhabited by indigenous Quechuas and Aimaras, who are cattlemen and farmers. The south side is surrounded by archaeological sites such as the temple of the sun, steps, agriculture terraces and paths, besides the Pilkokaina Palace, and Yumani is another archaeological site where there are stone steps that lead to the top of the island, where exists water source from incan time. The north side of the island shows the Chinkana or underground labyrinth, the temple of the sun, in addition an archaeological museum of Challapampa. Lunch included during trip. Finally a return trip by motor boat from Sun Island to Copacabana. Land transfer from Copacabana-Bolivia to La Paz, including crossing by boat Tiquina channel-strait. In the evening arrival in La Paz-Bolivia, and then transfer to the hotel.
