DESCRIPTION OF ITINERARY:
DAY 01: LA PAZ – COPACABANA – SUN ISLAND: Early morning between 7:15 – 7:30am a driver & guide will pick you up from your hotel in La Paz (Bolivia), then you will be driven to Copacabana. The village of Copacabana is located on shores of Lake Titicaca, to 152 km away from La Paz-Bolivia, 3:00 hour’s drive, at an altitude of 3,840 masl, with a population of 3000 inhabitants. There is a church in Copacabana which was originally of a Moorish style, then Renaissance style which was built between 1601 and 1619 and rebuilt in 1610 and 1651. Depart by private motor boat from Copacabana to Sun Island, also called Titicaca Island is located in Lake Titicaca Bolivian side, which has a length of 9.6 km by 4.6 km wide and covers an area of 14.3 km ². Its first name was Titicaca Island which means Andean cat stone or puma stone. in Addition Pilkokaina temple, located in the sout side of sun island, from where we have trekking to the lodge. Lunch included during trip. Afternoon free time to explore the surrounding area. Dinner included at lodge. Overnight at La Estancia Ecolodge (Sun Island).
DAY 02: SUN ISLAND – COPACABANA – PUNO: Buffet breakfast included at lodge. Sun Island has a rugged terrain with many terraces that ancient people have used for cultivation. The island was the Inca sanctuary with a temple of virgins dedicated to God Inti (the Sun), inhabited by indigenous Quechuas and Aimaras, who are cattlemen and farmers. The Sun Island is surrounded by archaeological sites from Tiahuanaco era such as the temple of the sun, steps, agriculture terraces and paths. It also shows the Chinkana or underground labyrinth, in addition the archaeological museum of Challapampa. Yumani is another archaeological site where there are stone steps that lead to the top of the island, where exists water source. Finally return by motor boat from Sun Island to Copacabana. Lunch on your own in Copacabana. Land transfer to Puno (Perú), a car trip of 3:00 hours, making stop at Kasani (Migrations office of Bolivia & Peru). Arrival in Puno (Peru), then transfer to hotel.

If you travel to Bolivia, visa is not necessary for U.S Citizens and most other nationalities. If you hold a passport from another country, we will send all information necessary otherwise check with your local consulate or embassy about requirements for travel to Bolivia. All passengers traveling internationally are required to have a passport. Please carry proper identification on you and do not leave in your suitcase or hotel room. In most of places like airports, train-bus stations, frontier or at any other check points you must to show passport, because some countries have laws that require you to carry your passport with you at all times and anywhere. If you are in any doubt please contact the nearest Bolivian Embassy.
